The Spatifilo

Spatifyllum, whose scientific name is Spathiphyllum, is a houseplant prized for its beauty and environmental benefits. Also known as "peace lily", it is famous for its showy white flowers. It is a perennial plant native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Its leaves are large, dark green and have an elegant, elongated shape.

Spatifilo Care

Light: Spatifilo prefers indirect light or semi-shade. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, as this can burn its leaves. Placing it near a window facing east or west is ideal.

Temperature: This plant does best in warm, stable temperatures, between 18-24 °C (64-86 °F). Avoid cold drafts and extreme temperatures.

Watering: Spatifilo needs regular watering, but it is important not to overdo it. Let the top layer of the substrate dry out before watering again. Make sure the water drains properly to avoid puddling.

Humidity: Spatifilo appreciates high ambient humidity. If the air is dry, you can spray its leaves with water or place the pot on a tray with pebbles and water to increase humidity around the plant.

Spatifilo Benefits

In addition to its aesthetic beauty, Spatifilo offers several benefits to the indoor environment. It is known for its ability to filter common toxins from the air, this contributes to a healthier environment. It is also a plant that has the ability to increase humidity in the environment where it is found. This is especially beneficial in heated or air-conditioned spaces, as these systems tend to dry out the air.
