When it comes to taking care of your kokedamaswatering is one of the most important tasks. But when is the best time to do it? Here's everything you need to know about the right time to water your plants and how to do it effectively.
When should I water my kokedamas?
In general, the best time to water your kokedamas is early in the morning or late in the evening. Avoid watering during the hottest part of the day, as the water will evaporate quickly and your plants will not have enough time to absorb it. Also, watering them in the middle of the day can damage their leaves, since the water droplets act as lenses that concentrate the sunlight and can even burn them.
Watering your kokedamas early in the morning or late at night also has other benefits. For example, during these hours, the air temperature is lower and the relative humidity is higher, which allows water to be better absorbed by plant roots. Also, during the night, the leaves of the plants will not be exposed to the sun and will have more time to absorb the water better before the temperature rises again.
How should I water my kokedamas?
Steps to follow to water your kokedamas:
- Submerge the kokedama in a bowl of water, making sure to cover it completely.
- Be patient while the kokedama is in the water. After about two minutes or when the bubbles stop, carefully remove the kokedama from the water.
- Place the kokedama on standby until it stops dripping completely. This signals that it has absorbed the required amount of water.
- Once the dripping stops, place your kokedama back in the chosen spot.
This process should be done once a week or every ten days, although it depends a lot on the needs of each type of plant.
